Requirements
1. Basic principles
Members must demonstrate their knowledge of the following:
  • History and principles of the Pilates method
  • Methodology and teaching
  • Contraindications and modifications
  • Knowledge of anatomy as relevant to Pilates

Comprehensive teacher

  • Full classical or contemporary Pilates repertoire
  • (Reformer, Cadillac/Trapeze table, Chair, Barrels, and Mat)
  • Safety in handling the equipment
2. Requirement for a BLS-AED or First Aid certificate
The member must have a valid BLS-AED or First Aid certificate.

3. Training Requirements / Number of Hours:
The training program must adhere to the requirements established in the PilatesSuisse Teacher Training Program Guidelines. It should be completed by undergoing a practical test and a written theory examination. This applies to all certifications. Suppose a trainee completes the practical test and written theory examination before fulfilling the required physical training hours, observation hours, and teaching hours. In that case, he/she will be granted the following time slots to complete these necessary training hours while maintaining a student membership status: 3 years for Comprehensive Training

Comprehensive training (all levels and equipments) entails a minimum of 500 hours, equivalent to approximately 1.5 to 2 years of training. In addition to the attendance time at the training centre/school, this should include:
  • At least 150 hours of teaching experience.
  • At least 80 hours of the student's own physical training in a Pilates studio, or 100 hours including online live training. In this case, at least 50% of the 100 hours must be practiced in a studio.
  • At least 50 hours of observation at a Pilates studio, or 60 hours including online observation with a minimum of 50% in studio observation.
  • Additionally, two case studies must be documented during the training period.
4. Registration for membership
Applications must be made online, through the Pilatessuisse website.Graduates who have obtained their Pilates training from a training organization recognized by Pilatessuisse only need to submit the relevant training certificate and their valid BLS-AED or First Aid certificate with their application for registration.Graduates of other training schools must provide full evidence of training as detailed in Points 1 to 3.
